Make me watch a monkey film and you can guarantee at several points during it I will cry. Two good examples are the remake of King Kong in 2005 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011.
I find parts of these films really emotional and so tend to watch them on my own, so hubster doesn’t have to watch the blubbering wreck I become. Don’t worry he gets to watch his B movies and sci-fi ones on his own so I don’t have to listen to him recite lines word for word. This works well for us!
“Spock: Don’t grieve, Admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh…
Kirk: …the needs of the few.
Spock: Or the one. I have been and always shall be your friend. Live long and prosper”
And back to me…..both monkey characters are so lifelike in features and how they are portrayed in their movements. This is all down to Andy Serkis who plays both parts.
I know they use motion capture technology so they are not real but the movements are all his and he does it too bloody well. Hence my monkey love and tears.
